30 Day Water Challenge

Y’all… there is one healthy habit that I am guilty of not doing, and that is drinking water.  I know that I do not drink enough water during the day to replenish my body.  My general excuses are that I’m busy, I don’t feel thirsty, and/or I’d rather have something other than water to drink.

  • Our bodies are about ~60% water
  • We are constantly losing water via sweat, urine, bowel movements, etc.

  • Helps balance other fluids in the body
  • Better for weight loss/maintaining weight because you’re drinking less sugary or high caloric drink
  • Helps with healthier looking skin – dehydration can cause your skin to look more wrinkled and dry
  • Help maintain normal bowel movements
  • Water flushes out toxins {therefore also reducing skin problems}
  • Helps with increase in energy – dehydration can cause fatigue

S O    H O W    M U C H    W A T E R    S H O U L D    I    B E     D R I N K I N G?

  • A good estimate is to drink at least 50% of your body weight in ounces of water {for example, if you weight 140 lbs then you should drink a minimum of 70 ounces of water}.
  • The more active you are, the more water you should drink above the amount calculated above.
  • I found this easy calculator that considers body weight and exercise amount here.

Join me in this 30 day challenge to become healthier and drink more water {that will hopefully kickstart a lifelong habit}!  It is best to start drinking water right away in the morning and then consistently throughout the day from then on.  

My personal goal is to drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.

T I P S    F O R    T H E    C H A L L E N G E

  • Find a cute and functional water bottle that will keep you motivated.  I know whenever I have a fun water bottle nearby I am always likely to drink more water.  My blender bottle can be found here for only $12.99
  • Try infusing your water with fruit for an added subtle flavor
  • Set an alert on your phone to remind you or download a water app on your phone {my favorites include iDratedWaterlogged and  Daily Water Free}
  • Eat more water rich food {such as zucchini, watermelon, cucumber, and grapefruit}.
