Crafts DIY Sorority

DIY Sharpie Mug

It’s official, I am a “big”! I have been crafting this past summer and the past week for my “little” sister in my sorority and it has been a blast {see the end of this post for more pics}.  I thought I would share one of my favorite crafts I made her that was really easy and fun!

Introducing the… sharpie mug!  Easy, cheap, and super cute {all the things I love}

Supplies needed:

  • A plain mug {I got my mug from the dollar store for literally $1}
  • Oil-Based Sharpie Pens {MUST be oil-based}.  I got them from Michaels
  • An oven

Here’s what to do:

  • Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees
  • Draw with the sharpie your design onto the mug
  • Allow the sharpie to dry
  • Place your mug in the oven for 30 minutes and let it “bake”
  • VOILA, you have a beautiful hand crafted mug 🙂

UPDATE 12/18/14:

I made some more DIY sharpie mugs for Christmas gifts.  Here’s how they turned out : ) I filled them with fuzzy socks and lotion to top the gift off : ) The one is for my friend who is from Texas.

I absolutely loved crafting these gifts {thank you Pinterest for these wonderful ideas}.  I will be posting more of my crafts later!

Big little reveal was a blast! Here are a few pictures of my beautiful little, Marta!

Also, I would love to give a HUGE shoutout to Emma @ Em.Powered Wellness for being so sweet and for nominating me for the Liebster Award.  So here are my responses and y’all should definitely check out her blog!

  • What’s your favorite Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
    • Hmmm, oh my gosh I really don’t know.  I’m gonna be real honest and tell you that my costumes are never creative.  It is my MISSION to make sure this year’s costume is creative and awesome!
  • What are three foods you couldn’t live without?
    • Banana’s for sure, I have one every morning.  I would also say chia seeds {you can read more about my obsession with them here}.  Another food I can’t live without is strawberries {real and flavored} – they’re just so good.
  • What’s your favorite motivational quote?
    • “Take care of your body.  It’s the only place you have to live” – Jim Rohn
  • If you could go back in time and meet 16 year-old you, what advice would you give yourself?
    • I would tell myself to not be so hard on myself.  Whether it was school or anything else, looking back I realized some of the things I stressed about were not worth it. {Or as Konrad suggested, go back and tell myself the wining lottery numbers – he has a good point}
  • What’s the most binge-worthy TV show on Netflix?
    • GOSSIP GIRL.  Hands down.  I’m infatuated with that show, so good.  If you haven’t watched it, you need to.
  • What was the highlight of your day today?
    • Definitely Big Little Reveal for my sorority! But also tonight – Konrad is coming over to help my family and I cheer on the Huskers!
  • Think of the place where you are the happiest.  Where is it?
    • The place I am happiest is wherever I am with my loved ones.  As cliche as that sounds it is so true.
  • What is your favorite scent/smell?
    • I love the smell of my vanilla cupcake candle or any pumpkin/cinnamon scent in the winter and fall.
  • Who do you look up to and why?
    • I really look up to my my mom and dad.  They are both such strong individuals and they have both inspired me, challenged me, and supported me in everything.  Without them I don’t know who I would be.
  • Coffe or tea?
    • Don’t hate me… but neither.  I have tried both but I am just not fond of either of them… yet.  I do love the smell of coffee and wish I liked it!

Thanks for the tag Emma! I hope everyone is having a good weekend! xoxo

    I’ve tried using the oil based sharpies but fine they either don’t work or lose all their colour. .. do you have any tips please

      I know that the pen can start to lose the color while writing, I find it helps if you shake the pen every once in awhile and push harder while writing!
