DIY Bracelet Hair Ties

About a year ago I started seeing in stores these stretchy hair ties.  They had super cute patterns and were much more comfortable to wear on your wrist than traditional hair ties.  Bonus:  they don’t damage your hair or create kinks like other hair ties because of the stretchy soft material (as compared to tight elastic).

What I also noticed was the outrageous price the stores were asking for these hair ties, some being around $6 for a pack of 3.

So I went onto Pinterest and found that you could make these cute hair ties for only $3 (and not just one hair tie, you could make up to 17 hair ties for $3)!

So here’s my super easy tutorial for how to make these:

S U P P L I E S   N E E D E D:

  • Elastic Decorative Trim {here is where I bought mine from Hobby Lobby}
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

T H E   P R O C E S S:

  • Unwind the trim against a ruler
  • I measured out my bracelets to be about 9 inches

  • Make an even cut along the 9 inch mark
  • Fold the ribbon in half

  • Make a tie near the end

  • Pull tight

  • VOILA! A super easy peasy cute hair tie

I have made so many of these and they have made wonderful gifts!

Have you ever tried these hair ties?  What do you think? : )
