DIY Crew Neck

Happy Sunday everyone! I have a feeling until things wind down with school I will be posting on Sundays only.

Sorority crew necks are cute, simple, cozy, and the perfect accessory to any outfit.  HOWEVER, to buy one it costs around $50 {depending on where you get it from}.  I don’t know about y’all but I don’t have that kind of money to spend.  So I decided to make my own crew neck for only $10! You can definitely make something like this without relating it to a sorority and putting something else like a team name or shapes!

Materials Needed:

  • Material {I got mine from JoAnn’s for around $3}
  • Some sturdy background material {I found mine for around $1 at JoAnn’s also}
  • A sewing machine / thread
  • Scissors
  • Letter templates
  • A crew neck {I found mine for about $6 or $7 at Target.  Walmart also has some for a few bucks cheaper}

The Process:

  1. If you don’t have templates, go to google and search for the letters or shape you want to use.  Paste the picture of the letter into word and resize it.  {For my crew neck, I made my letters all 4″ tall.  The letter A was 3.75″ wide, the letter Xi was 3″ wide, and the letter Delta was 4″ wide.   2
  2. I eyeballed the white trim, however, if you want to be more precise you can measure it out} 3
  3. Sew the fabric onto the sturdy white background
  4. Place the letters on the crew neck and sew them onto the crew neck
  5. TA DA! You have an adorable crew neck for a whole lot cheaper than buying one online!

If you try this fun DIY – let me know how it turns out!  I hope everyone had a good weekend and has a good Monday tomorrow!
