Life Sorority

A Sorority Appreciation Post

I was looking through some of my pictures from this past year and man has time flown by.  Like, seriously.  Not only is it July already, but i’m going to be starting my second year of college soon!

I really love looking through old pictures, they bring back so many happy memories and can remind you of all you have to be thankful for.

Which brings me to why i’m making this a “sorority appreciation post”.

Before joining Alpha Xi Delta, I had always been skeptical of sororities and greek life {not gonna lie}.  It seemed like it was all about parties and you had to be totally fake. Shows like GREEK and several other movies didn’t help the stereotypes.  The summer before my freshman year my parents encouraged me to give it a try.  I am so glad I listened to my parents and applied for formal recruitment.  Recruitment was stressful and long, but man was it worth it.

When they say you become a part of something bigger than yourself, they really meant it.  It’s so cool to me to be able to search hashtags on insta and find other sisters around the United States and be able to connect with them.

Not only has it allowed me to be a part of something so wonderful, but I have made so many great friendships.  Meet Shelby, a friend I am truly grateful to have found.  I can’t wait to be roomies this fall in the house and I’m sure you guys will be seeing more of her in my posts!

Being a member in the greek community has given me so many opportunities to network, meet some amazing people, volunteer for my community, raise awareness and money for Autism Speaks and so much more.  The list could go on and on.

I have truly found a wonderful group of women who inspire me to become a better person. Looking through pictures from this year, it has made me realize what an impact greek life has made on me.  I am so excited to continue making memories with my Alpha Xi babes and I can’t wait to live in the house this fall and get to know everyone better.

Enough with the mushy gushy post! One thing that’s awesome about being in a sorority is all the crafting we get to do for our “littles” {aka our little sisters in the house}! I can’t wait to start crafting as recruitment nears and share my ideas! I promise they won’t just be “sorority” crafts, they will be crafts that anyone can do/make! Be on the lookout for that! : )

On a side note, does anyone watch the Bachelorette? I love the show, but I just don’t know how to feel about this season- there’s something about it that isn’t as good as previous seasons. I truly feel like no one is going to be able to “beat” Sean and Catherine and their adorableness! {They’re so gosh darn cute!}

I hope everyone had a great Monday!

    I’ve been watching The Bachelorette – not sure how I feel either. I think it may just be Andi though. I went to a pretty small college, so there were only two sororities and they were kind of a joke. If I went to a bigger university, then I might have been more tempted to join one.

      Stacie- there’s just something about the way that Andi acts that bothers me! Still love the show though : )

    Marisa: It really looks like you found a great group of friends to spend some of the best years of your life. The Greek life does tend to get a bad rap but I think everything is what you make of it and it sounds like you and your girlfriends are in it for the right reasons. You are always going to have a sisterhood to lean on. My mom was in a sorority and she still gets together with her sisters on a bi-monthly basis. It makes me a bit jealous as I wish I had a tight knit group of gal pals like that! Enjoy your time!

      Stacy- I completely agree that everything is what you make of it! You can choose to “live” that stereotype or make what you want out of it. And that goes for anything in life, not just this scenario! And that’s so awesome that they still get together! Thanks for the sweet comment!
